Passionate and well-trained volunteers who are supported by committed, knowledgeable staff who are in turn supported by a Board of Directors and counseled by a Medical and Community Advisory Board. And all of this is supported by generous donors.
ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis was founded in 1999 by Melodie Wilson Oldenburg to help women diagnosed with breast cancer. Having been diagnosed herself, she saw the need to create an organization that provided support to those who face the difficult diagnosis of breast cancer. Motivated by her belief in the "Power of One-to-One", Melodie formed ABCD with a group of resilient and daring women. ABCD matches those newly diagnosed with breast cancer to a trained mentor to "guide" them through the treatment and medical aspects as well as the emotional and spiritual journey.
